Mo-Tel house

Jan 2021

More is more! And the more colour the better as far as I’m concerned.

Mo-Tel house is a colourful basement conversion by architects Office S&M, designed with the kids in mind (Mo is the name of the families young son). The house is full of colour matching, where all surfaces recieve their own individual colour identity or hue. But its not just the painted walls, its also the ‘throne’ like dinning room nook and the ‘nose’ shaped kitchen larder that make this space look pretty unique, for a Victorian terraced house in Islington.

The Guardian Magazine (article here) sent me to photograph the space and the colour coordinated family who live there. As well as following the Architectural Photography dictate that ‘All lines must be straight’, I added a bit of reality by including toys and kids paintings in the shots. The portraits with the two toddlers, also brought an energy and chaos, to the architectural colour carnival.
