So Mayer and Deborah Moggach

The Observer Magazine sent me to the Kenwood Ladies Bathing Pond to photograph Writers Deborah Moggach and So Mayer.  Both writers have contributes to a new anthologie of stories, histories and politics of the Ladies pond in Hampstead Heath.

There has been recent disputes about Transgender usage of the single gender ponds, which the Corporation of London has ruled, it is illegal to discriminate against. Tensions at this harmonious haven, were running high, with infighting between different groups.

Our shoot at the gates was attracting a lot of attention and questions, from the swimmers. But So - who identifies as gender non-aligned - had written about the long history of Gender politics at the Pond and was great at helping us calm the crowd.
